Why Pochettes hold value
The Pochette is extremely versatile — it works as a standalone clutch, slips inside a larger tote, and doubles as a wallet. This keeps demand high. The small surface area also means less canvas to wear or damage, so more bags survive in excellent condition. On the Neverfull and other totes, the Pochette is the included interior pouch — meaning there’s a large supply of “used as inner pouch” Pochettes that sell at a discount to standalone pieces.
Authentication
- Date code: Inside the main pocket, stamped on the lining or on a leather tab. Heat-stamped, not printed.
- Wrist strap: Single flat leather loop. On genuine bags this is vachetta cowhide — it will darken with age. Synthetic or very stiff straps are a fake signal.
- Zipper: Éclair zipper with the brand name embossed on the pull. Not YKK.
- Canvas: The small size means the monogram motif may be cut at the edges — this is normal on a genuine bag. What to check is that the LV logos are right-side up on the front face.
